High Street Road and Mowbray Drive Intersection Upgrade

Overview

We’re planning for an upgrade to the High Street Road and Mowbray Drive intersection in Wantirna South to improve safety and reduce travel times.

We’re investigating options to:

• add traffic lights to the intersection
• improve walking and cycling connectivity.

Planning and development

Planning work is underway and key activities include:

• developing a project design
• traffic analysis and modelling, to better understand movements in the area
• on-site investigations to test ground conditions and map utility services.

We expect our initial planning work will be complete in late 2026. Our planning work will be used to inform government decisions on future funding.

Community feedback

From 16 February to 18 March 2026, we asked for community views on Engage Victoria to help inform our planning.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback by commenting on the interactive map, responding to our survey or chatting with the project team in person.

286 responses were received to our online survey, 90 comments were made on our interactive map, and 30 people attended our community pop-up.

Feedback has provided important local insights, helping us better understand community views on safety, traffic flow and other key considerations for planning.

Feedback received is being used to inform our planning work.

Technical investigations

To help inform our planning, we’ll complete roadside technical investigations. At times, we may need to implement traffic control measures, including temporary lane closures, stop/slow traffic and reduced speeds. We’ll keep traffic disruption to a minimum and avoid busy periods, where possible.
